Park District Director Bill Palmiscno said there has been plenty of activity at the park since Springfest ended, including Park District events organized for kids, and the Potato Bowl french fry feed each September.
But those are all family friendly-functions, Palmiscno pointed out. Springfest, in contrast, became notorious for providing college students and surrounding house parties with a reason to wreak intoxicated havoc. Jeff Frane, Kappa Sigma alumni president and adviser, asked the council for a "chance to prove this is not Springfest" Monday night. Frane emphasized event proceeds are part of a national Kappa Sigma fundraiser for veterans, highlighting his own veteran status.
